At Mystic Valley Elder Services (MVES), we give special
priority to underserved populations, and seek to create an environment
that is welcoming and accessible to all elders, regardless of race, creed,
ancestry, language, nationality, place of origin, ethnicity, aboriginal
status, disability, gender, and sexual orientation. The multicultural
character and special needs of the individual are fully recognized, valued,
and respected
Our commitment is to embrace diversity in the community
at large, and to increase the diversity of our workforce and the clients
we serve. Currently, our multi-ethnic staff speaks a total of 13 languages,
including Spanish, Russian, Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, and American
sign language. We can communicate with deaf individuals through our TTY/TDD
telephone service, and through a contract with AT&T interpreters we
can handle telephone communication in over 100 languages.
MVES provides services to deaf and hard-of-hearing elders through
a contract with New England Homes for the Deaf. These services include
referral, outreach, health and social services, as well as accessible
communication and assistance via newsletter and sign language. Contact
them at (978) 774-0445.
MVES provides services to low-vision elders through a contract
with the Mass. Association for the Blind, Vision Community Services
Division. These services include in-home rehabilitation training, adaptive
equipment, outreach, telephone support and two monthly peer support
group for elders who are vision-impaired. Contact us by phone at (781)

MVES is making a special effort to reach out to its growing
Asian immigrant and refugee populations. Through a collaboration with
the Vietnamese American Civic Association, the Greater Boston Chinese
Golden Age Center, and the Malden Council on Aging, MVES is able to
provide a variety of services to Asian elders.
MVES has worked with the Malden Council on Aging to
create a culturally appropriate environment where Asian elders may comfortably
come for educational, recreational and social services. Each Thursday
an Asian-style meal is served, and classes are periodically conducted
in English as a Second Language. Several mornings each week, bilingual
outreach workers from the Greater Boston Chinese Golden Age Center and
the Vietnamese American Civic Association provide translation assistance,
help with applications for benefits, and provide information and referral
services at the Malden Council on Aging.
