Q. How do I know if nursing home care is the right choice?
A. Nursing homes provide skilled health care for residents whose needs cannot be met through other alternatives. They are only one in a range of comprehensive health and social services designed to meet the needs of chronically ill and disabled persons.

The staff of MVES's Health Services Unit is composed of Registered Nurses highly skilled and experienced not only in evaluating for nursing home care, but also in recommending other community options that are most appropriate. We have been providing long term care assessments since 1989 for consumers of all ages, and are familiar with State and Federal OBRA regulations.
Through a private assessment, we will provide an accurate evaluation and description of the health needs and functional status of the individual considering nursing home care; and, if requested, we will provide it to the long-term care provider of your choice.
A private assessment is an important financial planning tool for the consumer, and gives you some assurance of the need for the intensive level of services offered in a nursing home.
Through the assessment, you may discover that you wish to seek alternative forms of care that will not consume your resources so quickly.
The assessment charge is a reasonable flat fee with no extra charges, paid for by the individual or family requesting the service. Please contact us for the current rate. (Please Note: if you intend to apply for Medicaid, a LTC screening is mandatory, and the Private Assessment is not applicable to you.)
