Support Groups

Peer support is one of the greatest resources we can offer to each other. We foster a kind, welcoming atmosphere for anyone seeking support around a caregiving or age-related challenge.

If you are looking for peer support around an issue not listed below, contact us at 781-324-7705 to discuss beginning a new group.

Alzheimer’s Support Group for those with partners/spouses suffering from Alzheimer’s. Every other Wednesday from 10am to 11:30am. Although you are not required to RSVP ahead of time, we do recommend that you have a private conversation with our Family Caregiver Support Coordinator, Kathy Learned, in advance of attending so that she can help to prepare you and provide you with the supports you need to engage with your peers. To join, please contact Kathy Learned at 781-388-2350.

Caregiver Support Group Being a caregiver can be fulfilling, exhausting and everything in between. Gain comfort and support from others who are doing the same work. Open to all caregivers, this group is held on the second Wednesday of the month from 10am-11am at the Robert A. DeLeo Senior Center, 35 Harvard St. in Winthrop. To join, please contact Jessica Parow, Caregiver Support Coordinator, at 781-388-2319.

Memory Cafés Join other individuals living with Alzheimer’s Disease or dementia, along with their caregivers, at a Memory Café. These events are informal gatherings in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment. Memory Cafés are held throughout Massachusetts. For additional information, please contact Kathy Learned at 781-388-2350.

LGBT Mystic Tea isn’t really a support group—it’s a celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender seniors in our community. Most importantly, it’s a safe space for community building and friendship. The LGBT Mystic Tea takes place the third Tuesday of every month from 4pm to 6pm. If possible, please let us know that you’re coming so that we can make sure we’ll have enough food for everyone. There’s a $2 suggested donation to offset the cost of food. To join, please contact Vida Poole, Director of Community Programs, at 781-388-2375.
