Health Benefits Counselor, SHINE

Summary

SHINE (Serving the Health Information Needs of Elders) Volunteers are specially-trained to help Medicare and MassHealth (Medicaid) recipients navigate through the confusing world of health insurance benefits. These volunteers or counselors provide unbiased information to elders and future retirees (and their families) about health insurance options. Volunteers also help people with Medicare Part D plans and Prescription Advantage. Once a volunteer is trained, he or she provides SHINE counseling at local senior centers, libraries, and other accessible locations.
