2010 Theatre Event has Exciting Results!

An air of excitement filled the Stoneham Theatre on April 10, the evening of MVES’ annual theatre benefit. Event sponsors, theatre goers, and friends of MVES were thrilled to enjoy the sights, sounds, and songs of the popular musical My Fair Lady while supporting local elders.

The excitement didn’t cease when the actors and guests had cleared the theatre, but only heighten as the evening’s proceeds were tallied. The final numbers are in and MVES’ fifth annual theatre event netted $78,672 for the MVES Gap Fund!

Get Extra Help with Prescription Drug Plan Costs

Are you struggling to afford costs related to your Medicare prescription drug plan? If you are a Medicare beneficiary with limited income and assets, you may be eligible to receive “Extra Help,” also known as the Low Income Subsidy (LIS). Social Security offers Extra Help to reduce costs related to Medicare prescription drug plans such as monthly premiums, annual deductibles, and prescription co-payments. You may be eligible for full or partial help.

There are additional benefits for receiving Extra Help, apart from these cost savings. For those who receive Extra Help, there is no “donut hole,” or coverage gap. Also, those who get Extra Help can switch their Medicare prescription drug plans monthly, rather than waiting for official open enrollment periods.

From Executive Director Dan O'Leary

Spring is well under way and many of us have likely done spring cleaning of one sort or another. A hardy spring cleaning can really help us feel organized and refreshed. But if you know someone who suffers from hoarding, you’re probably aware that getting rid of clutter can be a lot more difficult than it would seem to you or me.

Finding a New Physician

Question: I recently moved to Massachusetts from New York to be closer to my grandkids. Now that I’ve relocated, I’m faced with the task of finding a new primary care doctor that I can trust. I had the same doctor in New York for decades and was really sad to leave her practice. Can you offer me advice on finding a new doctor?

Answer: Welcome to Massachusetts! We have so many great physicians practicing here, I’m sure you’ll find doctor that suits your needs.
