Come To MVES’ First Comedy Event “A Bellyful of Laughs”

A laugh a day keeps hunger at bay! MVES invites you to join us for a night of comedy to help support Meals on Wheels.

MVES and the Zonta Club of Malden have partnered to host “A Bellyful of Laughs” on January 23, 2010 at Anthony’s Restaurant, 105 Canal Street, in Malden. The event’s proceeds will benefit MVES’ Meals on Wheels Program. The Meals on Wheels program delivers nutritious meals to homebound elders.

Local comedians Paul Gilligan and Dave Russo will deliver “a bellyful of laughs” for the evening’s main event, the comedy act. Additionally, comedian Sal Votano will serve as MC for the event. The comedians have plenty of experience making audiences laugh and are sure to put on a funny show!

“We’re excited that our brand new comedy event is shaping up to be an awesome night of entertainment,” said MVES’ Director of Development Jenny Vanasse. “Our goal is to get people laughing and raise money!”

In addition to enjoying “a bellyful of laughs,” guests will enjoy a bellyful of great food too! A buffet dinner, dessert, and coffee will be offered before the comedy act. A cash bar will be available throughout the evening.

Every person who attends the event will be entered to win the door prize, a clam bake party for 10 valued at $400! Also, guests can purchase raffle tickets to have their chance at additional great prizes! Raffle items include a 32-inch flat screen high definition TV, unique gift baskets from each of MVES’ eight communities, and a large, beautiful chest filled to the brim with a wide variety of wines.

Tickets to the comedy event are $40 each and include dinner and dessert, the comedy act, and a chance at the door prize. Buy a ticket for yourself or purchase a table of eight, 10, or 12 for you and your friends! Twenty-five dollars of each ticket is a charitable donation to the Meals on Wheels Program and is tax-deductible.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the comedy show will start around 8 p.m. Guests are encouraged to arrive early for the best seats and to allow for plenty of time to enjoy dinner before the show.
