MVES is pleased to announce that it will host its annual senior art show this fall on September 23, 2010. The MVES Senior Art Show offers an opportunity for area seniors to share their artwork and photography with fellow artists and the community.
Amateur and professional artists over the age of 60 from Everett, Malden, Medford, Melrose, North Reading, Reading, Stoneham, and Wakefield are invited to submit a maximum of two pieces of artwork—sketches; photos; or paintings in oil, acrylic, pastel, or watercolor—to be showcased in the art show.
“The art show is one of the agency’s most popular events and if you’ve seen a previous show you know why,” said Molly Osborn, marketing and development specialist, who coordinates the show. “The quality and variety of art that is submitted is amazing! The show seems to get better every year, which speaks to how many talented artists live in our area.”
The specific dates and times when artists should drop off their works at MVES’ office will be announced this summer, as the date of the art show nears. Art must be delivered and picked up by the artists or family members and must be framed and wired so it’s ready to hang.
MVES will host a reception on September 23 to thank the artists for participating and to award prizes to the winners of painting and photography categories. The public will be invited to view the art exhibit, which will remain open throughout the month of October, at MVES’ office located at 300 Commercial Street, #19, in Malden.
This summer MVES will mail a registration form and further details to artists who have participated in the show in years past. New artists who would like to be added to our art show mailing list should call Molly Osborn at 781-324-7705, ext. 133 or email mosborn@mves.org. Now go on and capture, paint, and create!
