Pereira Sponsors Benefit For MVES
John Pereira, president of Malden-based Combined Properties, and his wife Wendy have chosen to support Mystic Valley Elder Services’ (MVES) annual fundraiser for the third year in a row. The Pereiras will sponsor the upcoming musical Sisters of Swing, The Andrews Sisters Story at the benefactor level. The benefit performance of Sisters of Swing, The Andrews Sisters Story will be held at the Stoneham Theatre on April 12, 2008. All net proceeds from the event will benefit MVES’ Gap Fund. “It’s important that community members help seniors live where they want to live. Most often, this is at home,” said Pereira. “We’re proud to support MVES’ efforts to serve more elders.” The Gap Fund is an endowment created by MVES that hopes to raise $1 million. The interest accrued by The Gap Fund is used to provide home care services to elders who are slightly above government income eligibility guidelines or who are not considered frail enough for government-supported services.
