Generosity Delivers

So often we're asked for money to support one cause or another. But, how often do we see the results of our generosity used practically?

At Mystic Valley Elder Services, we appreciate every dollar our contributors give—and we use those dollars very carefully, helping the frailest elders receive emergency help. With unparalleled donor generosity, MVES raised a record-breaking $15,000 this past fall. All of this money will be allocated to the Elder Independence Fund. But what is the Elder Independence Fund? It's about helping real people with serious issues.

Please read some examples of ways the Fund has helped.

  • An older gentleman was unable to eat solid foods because he desperately needed a set of dentures. The MVES Elder Independence Fund paid for the dentures and related dental work.
  • An older adult, with no family to help, had been on the waiting list for a subsidized apartment for over a year. An apartment became available but the elder had no way to pay a moving company. The MVES Elder Independence Fund paid the moving company to relocate the person.
  • An 89-year-old lady requested MVES to replace her 12-year-old lift chair that had broken. The MVES Elder Independence Fund purchased a new lift chair for her.
  • An older woman needed help paying for medical transportation services to her physician, following hip surgery. The MVES Elder Independence Fund helped her pay for the medical transportation.
  • A local elder needed a lightweight, transfer wheelchair that her sisters and nieces could lift into the trunk of the car when they escorted her to medical appointments. The MVES Elder Independence Fund was able to purchase the wheelchair.

At MVES, generosity from our donors goes immediately to help those most in need. If you're interested in helping us help elders, please contact Jenny Vanasse at 781-324-7705 or visit the Development section of our web site.
