Behind the Scenes with the Nurse Manager Our popular Behind the Scenes series continues this month with a focus on MVES’ Nurse Manager Roza Budilovsky. Roza plays a large role in coordinating our nurses and case managers and developing new programs to better meet the needs of our clients. Read all about Roza’s responsibilities and experiences as nurse manager at MVES.
R. Budilovsky: As nurse manager, I’m responsible for a number of tasks. Currently, I coordinate seven different nurses on our staff. This includes training the nurses over a six-month span and monitoring them to ensure their duties are carried out in a timely and appropriate fashion. Another important part of my job is screening clients. We continually screen the paperwork of MassHealth clients to determine whether clients can be approved for nursing homes, adult day care, personal emergency response systems, or home health aid services. I also am working with Health Services Supervisor Joe Miglorie on developing and enhancing our current programs such as Community Choices, Medicaid Waiver, and Group Adult Foster Care. Editor: As Nurse Manager, with whom do you work closest during a typical day? R. Budilovsky: As you might guess, I work very closely with each of the nurses and case managers on our staff. Since there are always new developments in our field, teaching becomes an important part of my job. I teach and train the nurses each month on the latest updates and changes in medical issues and procedures. We spend a lot of time together, reviewing procedures and practices. Joe Miglorie and I constantly work to streamline our procedures and forms to better meet client needs and speed up approvals for clients. Editor: What do you enjoy most about your job? R. Budilovsky: The long-term relationships we develop with our clients. It is gratifying to know that we are helping individuals in our communities who are in need and teaching them about oxygen safety, symptoms of both high and low blood sugar, and other important health factors. I hope that by educating these clients, they will be able to live a safe and comfortable life. I also like the variety of the position. I’m never bored with it. Each day, I never know what to expect when I walk in the door. Whether it’s developing new procedures or working with our nurses, each day brings a new and exciting task. I find it motivating that there is always room for improvement. Editor: How would you best summarize your experiences thus far at MVES? R. Budilovsky: I feel lucky to work for an organization that takes such
a professional approach to their clients and the community. In working
with the case managers and nurses, I know I’m working with very
good people who are both responsible and responsive to their work and
the needs of their clients. It’s very comforting to work in an excellent
system with supportive managers and co-workers who are open and who will
listen. It’s just a pleasure to be a part of an organization that
works at such a high level all the time. |
