Celebrating Success and Commitment Mystic Valley Elder Services recently celebrated its 29th Anniversary on October 26 at the Irish American Club in Malden. Over 180 people attended the annual event as members of both the agency and community were recognized for their contributions to the elderly. “Each annual celebration is an opportunity to recognize the hard work of individuals—both inside and outside the agency,” said MVES Executive Director Daniel J. O’Leary. “Many people in the local communities work hard to help elders remain living safely in their homes and the annual celebration allows us to thank a few of these individuals.” Seven excellence awards were given out at the celebration recognizing individuals who have delivered unmatched services to clients and the community. Among them was the Cathe Madden Award presented to Denise McHale. The award is "presented to an employee of MVES in honor of his/her outstanding efforts and commitment to clients and the agency." The award was created in memory of Cathe Madden, a former MVES employee who demonstrated extraordinary enthusiasm, innovation, and commitment to her job. The award is considered MVES' highest staff recognition. McHale’s nominators wrote, “[McHale] strongly advocates for her clients…she never hesitates to make herself available early in the morning or late in the day to accommodate family members’ schedules who feel the need to be at their relative’s home visit…educating clients, providing printed information, and making calls for clients who are unable to access information due to hearing or sight impairment are everyday occurrences for Denise.” MVES presented the following awards:
