Resources for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Seniors

We’re committed to honoring and celebrating the experiences and needs of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender members of our senior community.
Mystic Valley Elder Services celebrates LGBT seniors
We invite you to join us for a meal, call us when you need guidance, and let us know how to serve you better.

COMMUNITY SPACE: In 2012, we began the first LGBT senior tea time in the Mystic Valley Region.

LGBT Mystic Tea welcomes LGBT seniors from the Mystic Valley region (Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, Melrose, North Reading, Reading, Revere, Stoneham, Wakefield and Winthrop)…and beyond. LGBT Mystic Tea is held the third Tuesday of every month from 4pm to 6pm, at the Mystic Valley Elder Services Headquarters (300 Commercial Street in Malden).

INSURANCE INFORMATION: Through our free Medicare counseling program (the SHINE Program), trained experts can offer information about navigating the Medicare/MassHealth benefits system. Call 781-324-7705 x 164 to make a free appointment with one of our counselors.

SAFE TRAVELS: Through our free, self-guided transportation program, LGBT seniors can recruit friends or allies to help them get around town – to medical appointments, to the LGBT Mystic Tea, or anywhere else – and Mystic Valley Elder Services will provide reimbursement for mileage.

To apply for the TRIP Program, call 781-324-7705.

REFERRALS AND INFORMATION: We want to share our expertise with you! If you are looking for an elder attorney who can help you get your affairs in order; if you want the name of a home care service that is committed to honoring and respecting LGBT seniors; if you have any questions at all about getting the supports you need to live the way you want, we want to help. Call us at 781-324-7705 (and check out our recent article on resources for LGBT seniors).

COMMITMENT TO BE BETTER: Mystic Valley Elder Services is committed to expanding the services and resources that we offer to our LGBT senior community. We have occasional community forums to discuss issues that are pressing for LGBT seniors, and we are always ready to hear your ideas…and to take them seriously. Email us at [email protected] or give us a call at 781-324-7705 and ask for Community Programs.
