If your business or nonprofit is interested in helping us to bridge the “tech divide,” let us know!
Our Technology Access Program (TAP) helps older adults and adults with disabilities to stay connected and engaged, and it supports their ability to live independently in the community. If you believe your partnership, donation or sponsorship can help these goals, we’d love to hear from you. Give us a call at 781-324-7705.
Mystic Valley Elder Services established the Technology Access Program (TAP) to empower participants to access the benefits of technology. Whether you’re new to the internet and “smart” devices, or you’ve already mastered some skills but need help overcoming a challenge, our staff and volunteers can help!
How technology can work for you:
Stay in touch with your loved ones
Manage your finances digitally
Communicate with your healthcare team online
Quickly and easily apply for programs
Search for information
Connect with friends and family through email or social media
How TAP can help:
Hosting “Tech Café” events where you can receive one-to-one assistance on smart devices, the internet and more
Providing iPad Basics classes that train you to get the most from your device
Advising you on obtaining affordable internet access
Coaching you through issues that come up as you use the internet, email and more
Helping you learn to avoid scams and use the internet safely
How-To Guides for TAP Participants
The TAP program provides many tutorial guides to help you accomplish tasks on the internet and using your smartphone, tablet or computer. Click the bold link to open each guide. Mystic Valley Elder Services created these guides in partnership with Tufts University.
Mystic Valley Elder Services regularly hosts Tech Cafes, iPad Basics classes, and other events in the 11 communities we serve. These programs are provided at no charge to older adults and adults with disabilities. To keep up on TAP and other events offered by MVES, you can sign up for our email newsletter, follow us on Facebook and other social media, or check our main website page at www.mves.org.
Interested in volunteering for TAP?
Our Technology Access Program makes a profound difference in the lives of participants, and volunteers are essential to its success! You don’t have to be a tech expert, all you need is basic computer literacy and understanding of using the internet, email, etc. All Mystic Valley Elder Services volunteers receive training and support. The TAP program requires a commitment of just a few hours each month – more if the volunteer wishes. TAP welcomes adult volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. (In some cases, we may partner with other organizations to train younger volunteers.) Bilingual volunteers are welcomed. Check out the video below for more about volunteering for TAP, and be sure to stop by our Volunteer page to let us know you’re interested!
